We recently sat down with the phenomenal Monica Zagrodny to learn about her inspiring 18-year travel industry career journey, leadership insights, and what it's like working at Flight Centre Travel Group's Corporate Traveller brand in Australia.

🎤 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒕 𝑭𝑪𝑻𝑮 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏?

I started in 2005 (I was 17!). At the time, I was working in a jewellery store, directly across from a Flight Centre Shop. Each year I’d watch the Flight Centre store celebrate their awards, and recognise their team wins and it was really motivating. I’d always wanted to travel and seeing that environment made me excited to be part of it- I think you call that FOMO now!I began applying for roles and was lucky enough to land my first role in a part of the business called VFR Flights. My role was focused on supporting our Travel Consultants and issuing airline tickets for our customers (yes, handwritten back then!). It was a really great introduction to the industry.

🎤 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝑭𝑪𝑻𝑮?

I have spent most of my years in Supply, specifically in Operations & Fares and Ticketing. I've also had a few project & business analyst roles, Global System deployment, Product Management and a stint in Finance & Technology.

🎤 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚?

2.5yrs ago I moved into an extremely exciting brand! I work for Corporate Traveller Australia as the Head of Supply. I work closely with our suppliers and help to drive strategy to create the best results for our brand - also ensuring our product strategy aligns with customer needs, commercial objectives, and long-term value/relationships.

🎤 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝑭𝑪𝑻𝑮?

I have grown up in this business, so I may be a little biased! I've been fortunate to work in multiple roles, alongside incredible leaders, teams, and people who have shaped my journey. Every role I’ve taken on has felt like both an experience and an education which has helped me grow. The business supports you if you’re willing to back yourself, and Flight Centre Travel Group invests strongly in leadership development and ongoing learning. There are always opportunities to grow - not just in Australia, but globally - and the culture of recognising and rewarding effort of this company is very real.

Oh gosh, I'm and introverted extravert! I love to head to the beach, being outside & eating food... and also love watching old movies on DVD! 📀
