Head of Product Management (CPO) – Boston,MA

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is one of the largest travel groups in the world. We are looking for an experienced product management executive to help our Leisure division develop products that consumers and internal users love. The perfect candidate is customer-centric and has managed large product portfolios and teams before and has a proven track record of working well with engineering and business stakeholders. Our product management teams are global, and some travel will be required.

    • The global and LOB leader for product management – reporting directly to the Division COO
    • Ability to lead through influence more than authority, but recognizing that final authority and accountability for the performance of the product management organization sits with the CPO
    • Fact-driven above all, with choices driven by testing rather than opinions
    • Driving how products deliver business capabilities and aligns with the company’s goals

As the CPO, you are expected to be the leading subject matter expert on product management methodologies, including product strategy, discovery, design and delivery. You must excel at analysis, time-ordering optimization, and you must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the intersection of business, user experience and technology. Furthermore, we expect the CPO to:

    • Actively manager stakeholders across the division and help lead communications
    • Help build, manage, and develop a global team with superlative product management, user experience, design, project management, and communication skills
    • Manage dependencies between products and between portfolios
    • Mediate conflicts between product teams
    • Work with engineering management to create an effective portfolio of tools and processes to use in product teams, ensuring enough flexibility to allow individual teams to flourish while maintaining consistency
    • Use OKRs (or other agreed-upon executional process) to drive results, both top down and bottoms up

Other Responsibilities

  • Focus on enhancing the performance of the global products
  • Help consolidate and reduce where possible – to realize synergies across the division
  • Engage directly with end customers/market, as needed and with the product teams, to determine customer needs
  • Organize the collection, rationalizing and sharing of stakeholder product needs
    • Discuss with product team and stakeholder management
    • Supervise documentation of stakeholder business outcomes (goals, themes, etc.) and production of the epics and stories (or other appropriate artifacts) needed for agile development
  • Assume responsibility for and delivery of executive-ready documentation
    • Supporting investment/disinvestment cases
    • Reporting on detailed product KPIs and his or her own OKRs
    • Be in full command not just of the facts but of what YOU will do about them

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to attract top product management talent
  • Demonstrated prior success in leading product management teams
  • Prior experience in product management is a must
  • Good communicator; must be adept working with both product and technical team members
  • Strong project management process knowledge and intense customer focus
  • Competitive and customer analysis experience
  • Experience with Agile Development and Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) management
  • Extensive domain expertise in the products owned / being developed and their environment
  • Environmental experience in the channels being developed
  • Familiarity with technology and operations used to build and support the applications
  • Ability to conduct neutral interviews with end customers for the products
